Overview
The Staff Software Engineer – PULSE Team serves as the technical lead and mentor within Company’s Prototyping / Utility Lab for Scenario Exploration (PULSE) - a cross-functional team focused on rapid prototyping, technical experimentation, and real-world scenario validation.
This role combines hands-on development with technical leadership. The Staff Engineer guides design and builds efforts across data, cloud, and UI components, translating product concepts into working solutions. Acting as a proto architect, this position ensures technical feasibility, drives quality standards, and fosters learning across the development team.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Design & Development
- Lead the design and build of end-to-end prototypes and scenario-based demonstrations across data, API, and UI layers.
- Develop scalable, cloud-enabled solutions leveraging AWS, Snowflake, Databricks, and Spark.
- Build APIs, data integrations, and dashboards using Python, Java, SQL, React, Streamlit, Power BI, or Tableau.
- Evaluate new technologies and recommend approaches that accelerate learning and innovation.
- Leadership & Collaboration
- Provide hands-on technical mentorship and set coding, documentation, and delivery standards for the team.
- Translate technical product ideas into actionable development plans.
- Partner with Technical Product Managers, Architecture, and Data teams to ensure solutions align with enterprise standards and are reusable where possible.
- Promote a fast, iterative development culture focused on learning and delivery.
- Quality & Delivery
- Manage prototype sprints to ensure timely, high-quality output.
- Maintain clean, well-documented, and reusable code.
- Support transitions of successful prototypes into Engineering for production-scale implementation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of software development experience with strong skills in: Python or Java, and Spark; working proficiency across the others.
- Demonstrated ability to lead small technical teams and deliver working prototypes independently.
- Proven experience in Cloud platform in AWS, and Data platform such as Snowflake, or Databricks.
- Solid understanding of API design, data integration, and front-end visualization frameworks.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and product teams.

- Experience in data engineering, identity, or marketing technology environments.
- Familiarity with agile, sprint-based development and rapid prototyping practices.
- Curiosity and adaptability to learn new tools and experiment with emerging technologies.
